The architecture of the Georges Pompidou Centre, which marked the 1970s with its high tech appearance, provided a daring contrast to the old traditional aspect of the Beaubourg area. (Architects: Piano Rodgers 1977 and Piano-Bodin 1997-2000). This Mecca of modern and contemporary culture houses the National Museum of Modern Art/Industrial Design centre, public information library open to all (BPI), exhibition galleries, cinemas, shows and concert halls and a contemporary music research centre (IRCAM). One floor of the National Museum of Modern Art is currently under renovation. The two floors are due to open fully again in February 2007. In the meantime the museum places part of its collection on display from the viewpoint of the relationship between visual arts and cinema, entitled "Le mouvement des images"...
